So-called »Pinch«-course probably again in 2016
The ceramicist Imke Splittgerber offers every other year a “pinch-workshop” taking place in the Ceramics Museum in Bürgel short before the pottery market in June.
Registrations accepts the Ceramics Museum Bürgel.
The magic of fire – performing a Raku-fire
Glowing clay – a special experience! You have got the opportunity to glaze a pre-fired vessel yourself and to try simple decorations. You will immediately be witness and see how the Far Eastern Raku-technology will be fired. That means: filling a small kiln, taking the hot vessels out and the so-called reduction. After cooling every participant can take their piece of ceramics home decorated by themselves. Groups from 6 to 20 people pay between 15 and 20 € per person (depending on the size of the group, a drinking vessel for glazing included, every other vessel 4€)
Coffee, cake and ceramics!
Having coffee and cake in the afternoon is part of the Thuringian way of life and the numerous sorts and variations of cake (baked in baking trays) are here part of the rural festive culture. Look forward to an introduction into the history of Bürgel pottery (as tableware) and afterwards enjoy a selection of Thuringian cake according to the season with a relaxing cup of coffee or tea.
- Visiting the Ceramics Museum Bürgel in a guided tour
- Coffee/ tea and a selection of regional cake served on original Bürgel ceramics from different workshops
- Explanation of quality features of Bürgel tableware made by craftsmen
- Exchanging and discussing typical regional baking recipes
Duration: about 2.5 hours
Price: 9 to max. 11€ per person (4 to 24 people)
